New Christ

Christ is always new. There's no blasphemy in saying "New Christ." The world is always in exactly the same level of need but always changing in what must be overcome. The ways the world fails to see, to recognize, to respond to Christ are always changing.

The attempt to transmit Christ through churches and religions has always been a problem, all the way back to the origin; from Paul, through the Constantinian perversion, through the Middle Ages, the Enlightenment and the post-Enlightenment, the problem persists.

The authority each of us has to recognize Christ is the same authority each has to comprehend Christ. It's not in the texts, it's not in the church it's not in Nature or reason. It's in us. It uses the texts, the church and its practices and teachings, its experiences in the world, its thoughts. It holds what can be held, let's go of what cannot. Even if it's in the Bible, even if it's reported as the words of Jesus himself. It's an overwhelming responsibility. But that's the call.

The arbiter is love. Find God, divinity, Christ wherever you can. Love everyone you meet along the way. The only hamartia is the failure of love.
